Headstand I Posture

Sanskrit: Sirsasana I
Pose Type: inversion,
Benefits: abdomen, arms, brain, heart, intestines, legs, lungs, pituitary, shoulders,

  1. Begin on hands and knees
  2. Place fore arms on the ground with elbows under shoulders and interlace fingers
  3. Place top of head on floor with the back of the head against hands
  4. Press into forearms as knees lift off the floor
  5. Step feet toward elbows to bring hips above shoulders
  6. Distribute weight evenly between forarms and head
  7. With control, lift feet off the floor and extend legs upward stacking them above hips and shoulders
  8. Balls of the feet press up
