Headstand II Posture

Sanskrit: Sirsasana II
Pose Type: inversion,
Benefits: abdomen, arms, brain, heart, intestines, legs, lungs, pituitary, shoulders, wrists.

  1. Begin on hands and knees
  2. Ground hands shoulders distance apart with elbows above the hands and bent 90 degrees
  3. Place top of head on floor (so the neck is long) out in front of the hands
  4. Lift knees from the floor
  5. Step feet toward elbows to bring hips above shoulders
  6. Distribute weight evenly between arms and head
  7. With control, lift feet off the floor and extend legs upward stacking them above hips and shoulders
  8. Balls of the feet press up
